Observations

Over the last several years I’ve witnessed people getting probation who several years ago would have never. People on probation committing violent crimes and being given low bonds. People on probation with several cases pending getting I bonds (no cash bonds). I am heartbroken as I watch the news daily and hear night after night more violence, robberies, and carjackings – businesses destroyed by looting and blatant thefts. As I watch in disbelief thugs walk into a store start grabbing items and walk out with no consequences!! Who pays the price for their crimes? The store owners, fearful shoppers, and workers do as politicians sit back and do nothing. It’s time to start holding people accountable for their actions including politicians.  I have spent a career based on the belief in rehabilitation and I firmly stand by that belief. I believe that not everyone who commits a crime needs to be put in jail – hence probation. Our specialized courts are amazing at targeting mental health issues, drug addiction, and domestic violence issues. Through treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and guidance people can be rehabilitated so they can be good law-abiding citizens. However, when crimes are committed that need more severe consequences – low cash or no cash bonds are unacceptable. We need to rehabilitate and keep our citizens safe at the same time. Proper consequences need to be given to everyone.

Local Issues

My concerns stem here, let’s join together to fix these local issues.

Continue the fight against covid. Keep businesses open and staffed while ensuring adequate health safety to protect our citizens. This is the new norm, we have to adjust how we handle day-to-day operations as covid is not going away. LET’S GET COOK COUNTY COOKING AGAIN!

Funding for infrastructure – specifically flooding. Many areas of Cook County are plagued with continuous flooding. I plan to create continuous infrastructure improvements moving our floodplains where they belong.
Increase funding for mental health facilities and drug treatment. I have extensive experience with specialized courts and how successful they are. The time is now to give the proper treatment and help bring mental health and drug issues to the forefront.
Economic Recovery! We are currently in a tough fight against the economy and it’s time to build out our workforce by creating local jobs instead of handing out money every couple of months.
We have some of the most beautiful forest preserves in the country. It is time to make them a safe place for families to enjoy a picnic. I plan on curbing crime as a whole with a focus on forest preserves in Cook County.
First Responder health and safety. The first responders in our community are our lifeline. Their concerns have been brought to light in recent months and are being pushed to the back burner with no end in sight.

It is time for businesses/county to fully reopen with effective safety protocol measures protecting against covid. Understanding that this is our new norm – it’s been almost 2 1/2 years and we are still not fully open. It’s time to get a wide variety of elected officials that truly represent ALL of the citizens. That can discuss issues at hand and reach a solution that is best for everyone, not just the chosen party.

My Plan:

A judicial system that works – that is punitive when necessary and rehabilitates with modern resources holding people accountable to be productive members of society. This can be done with job training programs as opposed to community service.

Better care for our senior citizens and a better educational structure for our children. Seniors and children are our most precious commodities. One can remind us how far we’ve come and can teach us through their experiences and lessons learned while the other will take us where we need to go. Our children can only do this if they are given the tools necessary for building that bridge to the future. It is important to create a safe educational environment with the resources necessary for children to thrive.

No More Division

We have become so divisive over politics that nothing is getting accomplished but rather hours upon hours are spent arguing over who caused what. At this point, I don’t care who caused it – let’s work together to fix it. Yesterday is gone so let’s spend today working together to create a better tomorrow.

I plan to focus on resources for mental health issues. Our mental health courts and resources need more funding as this topic touches all of us from our children up to our seniors.

The pandemic has left so many depressed, anxious, and feeling helpless. As a community, we need to come together and make sure resources are available for all people in need of them.

We are a Mid-Western City rooted in blue-collar values

We work hard every day to take care of our families and home and provide our children with opportunities so they can fulfill their dreams. All we want is to be able to enjoy our days off without the fear/threat of thugs hurting us or our loved ones and taking from us what we have worked so hard for. We should be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Chicago, walk down Michigan avenue, enjoy a picnic in any of our beautiful forest preserves and feel safe driving in our cars. We need a justice system that rehabilitates those that can be and puts violent offenders in jail.

It’s Time to Stand Up

With outrageous gas prices and inflation, our families are spending their time stressed and anxious instead of enjoying the fruits of their labor. We need to put a temporary hold on taxes for goods/services/gas until inflation is under control. It’s time to stand up for law-abiding citizens and start holding criminals and politicians accountable for their actions.

I stand for restoring law and order, term limits, and no tax hikes.
